Minas Gerais election developments

The gubernatorial and legislative elections in Minas Gerais have entered a phase of strategic planning and political maneuvering.

Candidates for governor have submitted official government plans, with a significant focus on public security. Proposals range from Patrus Ananias’s (PT) focus on intelligence and human rights to Alexandre Kalil’s (PDT) ‘Digital Wall’ and body camera implementation. Other candidates, such as Cleitinho, Flávio Roscoe, and Gabriel Azevedo, have proposed unifying databases and intelligence centers to combat organized crime and money laundering. Meanwhile, candidates including Indira Xavier and Henrique Áreas have advocated for more radical reforms, such as the de-militarization or extinction of the Military Police.

Simultaneously, political alliances are forming to influence the Senate renewal.
