Minneapolis Reign nightclub shooting and licensing

On July 19, 2026, a shooting occurred outside the Reign Event Center on Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis, wounding nine people aged 18 to 27. Investigators indicated the gunfire followed an altercation and were looking into whether shots were fired from a vehicle. No arrests were made following the incident.

In August 2026, the Minneapolis City Council’s Business, Housing and Zoning Committee unanimously approved the liquor license renewal for the nightclub. This decision followed a month-long delay caused by the July shooting. City staff reported that police found no direct connection between the business and the shooting, describing it as an “individual dispute between two people.”

As part of the renewal process, the establishment’s ownership updated security and business plans, and a police precinct inspector conducted a walkthrough. While some council members noted an increase in 911 calls at the location, officials suggested this might be due to inspectors encouraging more frequent reporting.
