Sonderling, who has served as acting secretary since April, previously held roles at the Department of Labor and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. While Senator Cassidy expressed confidence in Sonderling’s ability to protect workers and manage workforce transitions, Democrats opposed the confirmation, citing concerns regarding department policies and grant program management.
