The Moldovan government has undergone several personnel changes and restructuring efforts. In mid-August 2026, Viorel Rabei, a former infrastructure advisor to ex-premier Dorin Recean, was appointed to the Prime Minister’s Control Body under Vasile Tofan, effective August 18. Rabei, who previously served as a principal consultant in the Ministry of Finance’s legal department, fills a vacancy left by members who resigned in June amid issues at the Public Property Agency and various state enterprises. These appointments have faced criticism from local officials. Chișinău Mayor Ion Ceban criticized the reliance on foreign officials, suggesting that local specialists should be prioritized. Additionally, former President Igor Dodon characterized the appointment of Năsui as the promotion of a ‘Sorosist’ official.
