Monza and Cagliari Serie A match results

Monza and Cagliari recently met at the U-Power Stadium amidst significant personnel challenges for both clubs. Monza entered the match in 16th place with a depleted roster due to injuries and suspensions, while Cagliari held fifth place but was without manager Fabio Pisacane, who was serving a suspension.

Monza secured a dominant 4-0 victory during the seventh round of the 2026/2027 Serie A season, marking a significant turnaround for Ivan Juric’s side. This win represents Monza’s second victory of the season, bringing them to seven points, and stands as their largest margin of victory in Serie A history. Although the team struggled during the first half, Juric noted that his side successfully adjusted their tactics during the break to overwhelm Cagliari in the second half.

Gustavo Varela was the standout performer, scoring twice and providing an assist for Jay Robinson, bringing his season total to six goals. Defender Eddy Kouadio scored his first Serie A goal in the 39th minute, following an assist from Dany Mota, and Robinson added a third in the 66th minute. Goalkeeper Noel Tornqvist provided crucial early saves to maintain a clean sheet against a Cagliari side that entered the match with the league’s best defense.

Cagliari, led on the sidelines by assistant coach Giacomo Murelli, struggled to maintain composure following the first half. The defeat marked the first time this season Cagliari has conceded more than one goal. Following the match, the disqualified Fabio Pisacane expressed deep disappointment, describing the team's performance as a “scempio” (disgrace/shambles) and apologizing to fans for the lack of fighting spirit.
