Morena party internal tensions in Nuevo León

Overview

Internal friction has emerged within the Morena party in Nuevo León following the selection of Clara Luz Flores as the state coordinator for the Defense of the Transformation.

Former Secretary of Economy Tatiana Clouthier criticized the decision, claiming the choice ‘betrayed’ the movement’s values. In response to her exclusion from the leadership selection, Clouthier launched a new political movement called ‘Todos con Conciencia,’ which she stated aims to transform the region through citizen participation rather than seeking public office.

Clara Luz Flores has publicly called for unity, asserting that the broader political project is more important than individual differences. However, tensions persist as reports indicate that previous candidates who lost to Flores in internal consultations may be unwilling to support her. Additionally, the Labor Party (PT) remains divided regarding its stance on Clouthier and potential candidates.
