Moroccan digital startup ecosystem development
Overview
Morocco is implementing strategic initiatives to strengthen its digital startup ecosystem and venture capital landscape. Central to this effort is the launch of the Catalytic Startup Fund, managed by Tamwilcom under the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform. As part of the ‘Morocco Digital 2030’ strategy, the fund intends to invest 347 million dirhams over three years into venture capital funds. This collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Mohammed VI Investment Fund, and the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion (CDG) aims to use public investment to mobilize approximately 2.5 billion dirhams in private capital.
Alongside these state-led mechanisms, the private sector is seeing growth, exemplified by the legaltech startup Charikaty securing €3 million in pre-seed funding from investors including Dubai-based Red Tape Ventures. Charikaty intends to expand its business lifecycle services into Egypt and the GCC markets.
