Moroccan migration and repatriation efforts
Overview
Morocco has engaged in several repatriation operations involving different nationalities. Since August 2, 2026, Morocco has repatriated 327 unaccompanied Moroccan minors from the Spanish enclave of Ceuta via land routes to reunite them with their parents. King Mohamed VI has called for the reform of migration cooperation models between Morocco and Spain.
In late October 2026, a voluntary repatriation operation was launched to return at least 400 Senegalese nationals from reception centers in southern Morocco to Senegal. This coordinated effort between Senegalese consular authorities and Moroccan officials involves multiple bus convoys scheduled through early November. This follows reports from the Moroccan Royal Navy regarding the interception of three pirogues carrying at least 500 passengers, including approximately 300 Senegalese, in Moroccan territorial waters.
