Morocco aviation infrastructure modernization
Overview
Morocco is advancing a large-scale aviation infrastructure modernization program to increase passenger capacity and support its ‘Tourism Vision 2030’.
In late September 2026, the African Development Bank signed a €270 million financing agreement with Morocco’s National Airports Office (ONDA) to fund the Airport Infrastructure Extension and Modernization Program (PEMIA). This initiative targets strategic hubs in Marrakech, Agadir, Tangier, and Fez, focusing on terminal renovations, air navigation systems, and security enhancements to reach a total annual capacity of 25.6 million passengers by 2030.
Following this financing, ONDA launched several major tenders in October 2026 specifically for the expansion of Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca. These tenders, valued at several hundred million Moroccan dirhams, cover the installation of aircraft boarding bridges, ground power systems, and guidance technology, as well as technical oversight for the construction process.
