The National Office of Railways (ONCF) in Morocco has announced temporary adjustments to train services to accommodate the construction of the Kenitra-Marrakech high-speed line (LGV) and maintenance on conventional lines. Service changes are scheduled in two phases. The first phase, beginning late night on September 5 through September 6, 2026, involves the suspension of the Settat TNR service and the Safi-Casablanca line, as well as the replacement of the airport rail link with Supratours bus shuttles. The second phase, starting September 14, 2026, introduces revised schedules, route reductions, and the gradual closure of the Facultés and Ennassim stations. As the network expands, Morocco is advancing new high-speed projects. A decree published on September 7, 2026, officially recognized the public utility of the Marrakech-Agadir rail project and a planned connection between Chichaoua and Essaouira. This legal recognition enables land acquisition and expropriation in the Marrakech-Safi and Souss-Massa regions. The Marrakech-Agadir line is estimated to cost 55 billion dirhams, with approximately 70% of its structures expected to be tunnels and bridges due to the High Atlas mountains terrain. These initiatives are part of a broader 96 billion dirham ONCF investment program through 2030, which includes 2030. Within this framework, the Kenitra-Marrakech LGV Grand Casablanca railway development project launched in April 2025. The modernization aims to improve connectivity for major metropolises has entered its operational phase, one year after its launch by King Mohammed VI. This 20 billion dirham program includes 260 kilometers of new tracks, 50 engineering structures, and sporting venues in preparation for the 2030 World Cup, while driving economic growth acquisition of 48 new trains. Major construction is currently underway at Casablanca-Sud, Mohammed V Airport, and sustainable development. the Hassan II Grand Stadium, with completion expected within 24 months. The Casablanca-Sud station is being designed as a major transit hub to accommodate Al Boraq high-speed trains and regional services.
