Morocco high-speed rail construction service changes

Overview

The National Office of Railways (ONCF) in Morocco has announced temporary adjustments to train services to accommodate the construction of the Kenitra-Marrakech high-speed line (LGV) and maintenance on conventional lines.

Service changes are scheduled in two phases. The first phase, beginning late night on September 5 through September 6, 2026, involves the suspension of the Settat TNR service and the Safi-Casablanca line, as well as the replacement of the airport rail link with Supratours bus shuttles. Other services, such as the El Jadida TNR and Khouribga lines, will be limited to specific connection points.

The second phase, starting September 14, 2026, will introduce a revised transport plan featuring schedule changes, route reductions, and the gradual closure of the Facultés and Ennassim stations as the high-speed line project enters a new stage.

This construction is part of a massive modernization of Morocco’s railway network, headlined by the Kenitra-Marrakech LGV project which officially launched on April 24, 2025. The project involves constructing approximately 430 kilometers of dedicated tracks with speeds reaching 320 km/h. The investment for this line is estimated at 53 billion dirhams, contributing to a broader ONCF investment program valued at 96 billion dirhams through 2030. These developments aim to improve connectivity for major metropolises and sporting venues in preparation for the 2030 World Cup.
