Morocco international defense and health cooperation
Overview
Morocco has been expanding its international cooperation in the sectors of health, defense, and regional security.
In July 2026, a UK delegation visited Morocco to deepen bilateral ties. Discussions in Casablanca focused on health professional training, medical research, and cancer-care innovations through partnerships with organizations such as the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health and AstraZeneca Morocco. Simultaneously, military officials in Rabat reviewed existing framework and status of forces agreements to strengthen defense-industry collaboration and joint exercises.
Following these bilateral efforts, Morocco is also expanding its military cooperation with NATO through the Defence Education Enhancement Programme (DEEP). This initiative aims to enhance the professional development of African armed forces, specifically targeting non-commissioned officers. Building on Morocco’s 2025 entry into the framework, the Royal Armed Forces and NATO are expected to conduct training sessions in Morocco between late 2026 and early 2027 to bolster regional security.
