Multinational military exercises in Peru

Peru is hosting multiple multinational military exercises in September 2026 to enhance regional interoperability and security cooperation.

In maritime and naval operations, the Peruvian Navy is hosting UNITAS LXVII, the 67th edition of a long-standing multinational exercise. Running from September 10 to September 24, the event involves forces from 24 countries, including over 5,300 personnel and various vessels, aircraft, and submarines. This edition covers maritime, riverine, amphibious, lacustrine, and cyberspace domains. Concurrently, the Argentine Navy is participating in the Silent Force Exercise (SIFOREX XIV), a submarine warfare drill organized by the US and Peruvian navies.

In terrestrial operations, the Peruvian Army is hosting Exercise Southern Vanguard 2026 (SV26) in the Amazon Jungle. Running from September 7 to September 18, this exercise involves personnel from Peru, the United States, Argentina, and Chile. The training focuses on patrols, river crossings, and amphibious capabilities to address regional threats such as organized crime, drug trafficking, and illegal mining. The exercise includes a simulated high-pressure operation to neutralize a member of a transnational criminal organization.
