Municipal budget and service funding adjustments

Municipalities in Argentina, Mexico, and Chile continue to implement budget increases and infrastructure projects to support local services and public safety.

In Argentina, Villa La Angostura has maintained its commitment of nearly 5 billion pesos toward public works, specifically targeting paving in the Las Piedritas neighborhood and improvements to the San Martín and Los Pioneros plazas. Other regional developments include Oberá approving an inclusive plaza in Villa Falk, which will feature inclusive playgrounds, physical activity areas, and an open-air butterfly house. Salta has established a Municipal Program for Community-Based Rehabilitation (RBC) to promote social inclusion and accessibility for people with disabilities through local community centers.

Additionally, the Capital City Council created the ‘Municipal Council for Integral Policies for the Prevention of Problematic Consumption’ to establish a local network for prevention and assistance. A new proposal has also been introduced to establish a municipal office designed to centralize public service complaints and improve coordination between local government and utility providers regarding infrastructure repairs.

In Tandil, a tender has been opened for a $153.7 million natural gas network extension in the Las Tunitas neighborhood.

In Mexico, infrastructure projects continue, such as the delivery of eight paved streets in Real del Parque by the mayor of Culiacán, a project residents had awaited for 27 years. Previous efforts in San Luis Potosí focused on increasing municipal contributions to the Metropolitan Fire Department, while Cancún expanded its Participatory Budget program.

In Chile, Carabineros are proceeding with the acquisition of a new fleet for the La Farfana station in Maipú, which includes SUVs, motorcycles, and mobile units. Additionally, local authorities in San Martín have initiated tenders for new vehicles for the Urban Guard to enhance patrol services.
