In Oruro, Bolivia, the municipal sanitation company, Empresa Municipal de Aseo Oruro (EMAO), reported a technical breakdown in operations following the removal of diesel subsidies. The resulting increase in fuel costs has doubled monthly expenditures, creating a financial crisis where revenue no longer covers operating costs. Consequently, EMAO is considering a 50% reduction in garbage collection services while seeking to expand its taxpayer base.
