Arrest warrant issued for suspect in Dr. Ramos Argüello case

Authorities in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, launched an investigation into the death of Dr. Cristina Ramos Argüello, a 34-year-old surgeon who worked at the IMSS-Bienestar Maternal and Child Hospital and the ISSSTE. Her body was discovered on October 15 in her apartment at the Santa Cecilia residential complex with multiple wounds reportedly caused by a sharp weapon.

The Fiscalía General del Estado de Veracruz opened an investigation under the feminicide protocol. While initial reports suggested her former partner as a person of interest, subsequent developments identified 22-year-old Lenin Salvador as the alleged perpetrator. Surveillance footage from the residential complex reportedly suggests the suspect forced entry into the apartment and attacked the victim with a knife.

As funeral services were held in Paso del Macho, the victim’s family called upon the state governor to ensure justice is served. The local medical community has also expressed indignation, demanding a thorough investigation into the crime.

On October 18, Veracruz State Attorney General Lisbeth Aurelia Jiménez Aguirre confirmed that an arrest warrant has been issued for Lenin Salvador “N”, identified as a 21-year-old law student and tennis instructor. Salvador, who is the former partner of the victim, remains at large. Authorities are currently conducting search operations to locate him following the confirmation that the investigation is proceeding under a feminicide protocol with a gender perspective.
