Musical performances in Portugal

Overview

Musical events and performances are taking place across various regions in Portugal.

In the Alentejo region, celebrations for World Music Day include the 21st edition of Music Month in Elvas. Programming at the Auditório São Mateus includes the concert ‘Empatia – Reflexões Sonoras’ by the Orquestra Ibérica, followed on October 18 by the Ensemble Ibérico performing ‘Ecos da Planície’ with singer Luís Trigacheiro and the Youth Choir of the Academia de Música de Elvas.

In Évora, the EBORAE MVSICA Polyphonic Choir, directed by maestro Emanuel Vieira, is scheduled to perform a free concert at the Igreja do Salvador. The performance features works from the choir’s latest CD and pieces from the Évora Cathedral Music School, representing Portuguese musical legacies from the 16th and 17th centuries.

Montemor-o-Novo continues its ‘Mês da Música’ (Month of Music) with diverse programming. Following Eduardo Cardinho’s October 9 performance of ‘Not Far From Paradise’, Ensemble Alorna is set to perform ‘Jardins Sonoros’ on October 11. Later in the month, the ‘Dia Visionário’ on October 31 will feature the commented concert ‘Mais Alto!’, a vocal workshop, a documentary about musician Noiserv, and a performance by the Lisbon Poetry Orchestra.

Other scheduled performances include a concert by the Escola de Música Amadeus in Viana do Castelo featuring themes by Jorge Palma, and a jazz performance by the Máximo Trio in Vila Real as part of the Douro Jazz program, featuring their album ‘PANGEA’.
