Since May 2026 Romania has marked the 50‑year anniversary of Nadia Comăneci’s perfect‑10 with a nationwide programme of cultural, sporting and educational events. The launch began with a fashion line, a major sports‑complex investment and a gala at the Palace of Parliament. June saw a hometown celebration in Onești, a rebuilt gymnastics club and her appearance at the VII Cluj‑Napoca Sports Festival, followed by a vandalised commemorative bench and the renaming of a TAROM flight. In July she visited Slatina’s ALRO stadium for the “Together for Excellence” programme, attended a FIFA World Cup match in California, and took part in commemorations at the ASTRA County Library in Sibiu and the inauguration of a new gymnastics hall in Otopeni, where a bronze statue from China was unveiled. The National Archives opened a free exhibition “Nadia Comăneci – The Road to Perfection”, and the city of Găești held its inaugural Gala Excellence in Education. On 30 July 2026, the legend traveled to Montreal, the site of her historic 1976 perfect‑10, to continue the anniversary tour. On 31 July, a Banca Transilvania‑sponsored collection of books was released, comprising early biographies, memoirs, children’s stories and investigative works drawn from secret‑service archives, illustrating how Comăneci’s image has evolved from a communist icon to a universal cultural figure.
