Overview
Naples has launched several initiatives to promote its historical and cultural heritage through tourism.
In mid-October, the Fondazione Banco di Napoli and City Sightseeing Napoli established a partnership to link urban sightseeing routes with the historical records held at the Museo dell’Archivio Storico del Banco di Napoli. This museum contains banking records recognized by the UNESCO Memory of the World Register, which document the economic and social history of the city over four centuries.
Later in the month, the Metropolitan City of Naples introduced the ‘Adopt an Archaeological Asset’ project. This initiative involves 92 municipalities and local institutions working to create a unified network of archaeological sites. By connecting smaller sites to major UNESCO attractions like Pompeii, Herculaneum, and Oplontis, the project aims to distribute tourist traffic and stimulate economic development throughout the metropolitan area.
