Law enforcement agencies in India continue to conduct significant narcotics seizures and cultivation crackdowns, targeting transportation interdiction, illegal cultivation, and air travel smuggling. In the railway sector, authorities have intercepted major shipments, including 115.93 kg of ganja on the Puri-LTT Express in Cuttack and 15.426 kg at Secunderabad Railway Station. In Bengaluru, police intercepted a vehicle carrying 317 kg of ganja valued at approximately Rs 1.78 crore; suspects reportedly traveled from Kerala to Odisha to purchase the drugs for resale. Interdiction efforts have also extended to air travel. At Pune International Airport, Customs officials seized 1.243 kg of cannabis extract, valued at approximately Rs 1 crore, which had been concealed within branded cosmetic jars by a passenger arriving from Bangkok. Similarly, at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence and Customs officials seized approximately 5.29 kg of hydroponic marijuana valued between ₹1.85 crore and ₹2 crore. The contraband, arriving from Bangkok, was found in secret compartments in checked luggage and inside a tin container labeled as dog food. Regarding cultivation, authorities have intensified efforts to destroy illegal crops. In Gujarat, the Sabarkantha Local Crime Branch seized 967 cannabis plants valued at over 1.72 crore rupees, which were being grown under the guise of a cotton crop. In Vapi, police seized 243.67 kg of a cannabis-based substance valued at approximately Rs 1.21 crore during a residential ~~raid.~~ raid, leading to the arrest of Kartik, also known as ‘Pappu Biswal’. Large-scale operations continue in Madhya Pradesh. In Neemuch, police used drone surveillance to locate 51,000 cannabis plants valued at roughly Rs 2.79 crore.
