National Encounter of Pueblos Mágicos in Tampico

Overview

Tampico, Tamaulipas, is scheduled to host the 2026 National Encounter of Pueblos Mágicos from November 26 to 29. The event is expected to bring together representatives from all 177 designated magical towns in Mexico and delegates from all 31 participating states.

The gathering marks a strategic shift toward a community tourism model designed to direct economic benefits to local artisans, traditional cooks, and service providers. To support this, over 150 community experiences are undergoing specialized training. A digital platform launching in late October will facilitate business networking, aiming for 10,000 commercial appointments and the attraction of 200 national and international buyers.

Regional municipalities are preparing for the influx, with Tula planning cultural celebrations and Ciudad Mier showcasing its architectural heritage. The event coincides with the 25th anniversary of Huasca de Ocampo, the program’s first destination, and aligns with the National Day of Pueblos Mágicos. Organizers anticipate approximately 15,000 daily visitors and an estimated economic impact of 60 to 70 million pesos.
