Nations FC CAF Confederation Cup campaign
Overview
Nations FC has transitioned from domestic competition to continental play. The club was scheduled to face Medeama SC in the Champion of Champions fixture at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa to serve as a curtain-raiser for the Ghanaian football season.
Following this, Nations FC prepared for its CAF Confederation Cup campaign, beginning with a preliminary round away match against Mali’s FC Diarra in Bamako. During preparations, Black Stars defender Joseph Aidoo visited the squad to offer motivation, donating football boots and pledging a USD 2,000 bonus for a victory. Accompanied by former players and a football agent, Aidoo encouraged the squad to represent Ghana with discipline and confidence.
In their continental debut, the Ghana FA Cup champions suffered a 1-0 defeat to FC Diarra in the first leg of the preliminary round at Stade Mamadou Konaté. After a scoreless first half, FC Diarra broke the deadlock in the 55th minute. While Nations FC increased offensive pressure in the closing stages, they were unable to secure an equaliser. The club must now look to overturn the one-goal deficit in the return leg scheduled for September 13 in Ghana.
