The Netflix Italian teen drama series ‘Minerva Academy’ (also referred to as ‘Minerva – La Scuola’) is scheduled for a worldwide release on September 22, 2026. Set in a strict military high school in Naples and inspired by the real Nunziatella academy, the eight-episode season follows students navigating rigid discipline, forbidden romances, and a mystery involving a missing classmate. Directed by Ivan Silvestrini, the series explores the tension between institutional discipline and adolescent emotional lives. The school environment enforces strict rules, including bans on mobile phones, civilian clothing, and romantic relationships, while the curriculum combines traditional subjects with military tactics and fencing. The narrative centers on three protagonists: Salvo, a student from a foster home searching for the truth about his best friend; Vincenzo, who seeks to follow his father’s path; and Camilla. Actor Luigi Zeno stars as the enigmatic Leonardo. Zeno, who has received honors from the Italian Senate and the European Parliament, has noted that his role relies heavily on non-verbal communication. Beyond his ~~acting~~ work for Netflix and Rai, the 19-year-old from Ercolano has engaged in social advocacy, serving as a spokesperson against bullying following his role in the short film ‘La linea sottile’. Zeno is currently expanding his professional portfolio; in addition to ‘Minerva Academy’, he is involved in the Rai 1 production ‘Nemo – Chi ha ucciso Sofia?’ and is slated to begin work on another undisclosed Rai 1 production alongside established Italian performers. Following a preview at the Giffoni Film Festival 2026, Netflix has released the official trailer for the series. The production will be available in its original Italian with various subtitles.
