New England Revolution MLS playoff race

The New England Revolution are navigating the MLS Eastern Conference playoff race. In early September, the team sat fourth in the conference with 37 points following a 1-1 draw against New York City FC. Despite a recent loss to the LA Galaxy, head coach Marko Mitrovic maintained confidence in the team's ability to generate scoring opportunities.

By mid-September, the Revolution moved up to third place with 40 points. They prepared for a critical matchup against the Chicago Fire, who were separated from New England by only one point in the standings. Following a 2-1 victory over New York City FC, Mitrovic reiterated the team's focus on securing wins, stating, “Every game has value. Every game we play for three points, three points are on the table.”

On September 12, the Revolution secured a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Fire at Soldier Field, moving into sole possession of third place in the Eastern Conference with 43 points. Dor Turgeman opened the scoring in the 39th minute and later assisted Peyton Miller in the 47th minute to extend the lead. Although Maren Haile-Selassie scored for Chicago in the 62nd minute, New England held on to end Chicago’s seven-match unbeaten streak. Goalkeeper Matt Turner made several key saves to complete a successful four-game road stretch for the team.
