New York Jets organizational and coaching changes

The New York Jets are undergoing organizational and facility changes ahead of the upcoming NFL season. Following a 3-14 finish, head coach Aaron Glenn has implemented significant adjustments, including firing half of the coaching staff and taking over defensive play-calling duties. Glenn is also working with general manager Darren Mougey to recruit veteran leadership and improve the team’s internal culture.

Physical upgrades are also occurring at the team’s Florham Park facility, where renovations are underway to upgrade the weight room following previous locker room improvements.

During the 2026 preseason, Glenn’s dual role as head coach and defensive play-caller has received positive feedback. The defense has shown strength, notably recording four sacks and 17 pressures in a preseason shutout against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Defensive lineman Harrison Phillips noted that Glenn’s communication and willingness to explain his mindset have been beneficial to the players. Despite this preseason performance, prediction markets currently assign the Jets a low 3% chance of winning the AFC East due to strong competition.
