Nicaraguan Ministry of the Family social initiatives
Overview
The Nicaraguan Ministry of the Family has been conducting various social services and protection programs aimed at vulnerable populations. Between October 21 and 25, the ministry implemented initiatives through its ‘Escuelas de Valores’ program to promote family care and education across departments such as Managua, León, Chinandega, Chontales, and Zelaya Central.
Efforts focused heavily on child and adolescent protection, with 763 minors integrated into preventive centers in Carazo, Jinotega, León, and Managua to mitigate risks in high-risk areas. The ministry also managed significant child support payments, totaling over 3.2 million córdobas in the initial reporting period and increasing to over 5.8 million córdobas by late October. Additionally, the ministry provided family counseling and specialized psychological care for survivors of violence.
