Nilüfer Municipality youth and cultural initiatives
Overview
The Nilüfer Municipality in Bursa, Turkey, has introduced several initiatives focused on youth development and cultural enrichment.
In September 2026, the Nilüfer International Jazz School (NUCO) began its educational program. Managed by Professor Dr. Sezen Özeke, the free curriculum includes a ‘Jazz Lab’ phase for repertoire and theory, followed by an ‘NUCO International Week’ featuring masterclasses with musicians from Italy, Germany, and Poland.
Following this, in October 2026, the municipality launched the ‘Future Leaders: Active Citizenship, Competence and Network Development for Local Development’ program. Developed in partnership with various academies and associations, the eight-month initiative selected 90 university students from 402 applicants. Participants are organized into specialized groups, including ‘Future Women Leaders’, ‘Future Architects and Engineers’, and ‘Future Change Pioneers’, and will receive guidance from 60 mentors across the public and private sectors.
