Nintendo service maintenance and product updates
Overview
Nintendo has issued maintenance schedules for its various digital services throughout late September and October 2026.
In late September, maintenance was scheduled for Nintendo Switch Online network services, save data transfers, and system transfers for both the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. Downtime was also planned for the Nintendo eShop regarding prepaid funds and download codes.
By mid-October, maintenance windows were announced for Nintendo 3DS online play, eShop transactions, and network services for both Switch and Switch 2. This period also coincided with the availability of pre-orders for several upcoming titles on both consoles, including Pokemon Legends: Z-A and Pikmin 4.
Between October 19 and October 22, 2026, Nintendo scheduled five additional maintenance windows. These updates target Nintendo Network ID logins, specific online gaming network services, and the Nintendo eShop. During these windows, users may encounter issues with credit card payments or difficulties redeeming download codes and eShop cards.
Alongside these service updates, pre-orders for several upcoming titles have opened for both Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. New additions to the pre-order list include Blue Prince, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, Final Fantasy Resonance, Minecraft, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles 2, Steins;Gate Reboot, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, in addition to Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
