Nintendo Switch 2 market availability and offers

The Nintendo Switch 2 has seen various retail developments in Germany and Japan.

In Germany, retailers have introduced discounts and new purchasing options. MediaMarkt launched a VAT reduction promotion lowering the console price from 469.00 Euro to 394.12 Euro for MyMediaMarkt customers. Additionally, the retailer OTTO began selling digital games via activation codes, offering a 14-day return right if the code remains unredeemed.

In Japan, Nintendo has announced the ‘Nintendo Switch 2 Selectable Software Set’ (also referred to as the ‘Choose-Your-Game’ bundle) for release on November 12, 2026. Priced at 63,980 yen, the bundle includes a Japanese-language system console and a digital download code for one of three titles: ‘Mario Kart World’, ‘Nintendo Switch Sports Resort’, or ‘Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream’.

Choosing the most expensive title, ‘Mario Kart World’, offers potential savings of up to 4,980 yen compared to separate purchases. The included download codes are valid until March 31, 2027. While the bundle offers value, reactions from fans remain mixed, with some expressing nostalgia for previous Nintendo subscription or bundle services.
