Nissan corporate strategic development

Nissan has introduced new strategic frameworks to address industry shifts toward electrification, software, and increased competition.

Initially, the company announced a ‘Family Strategy’ led by CEO Ivan Espinosa. This approach moves away from individual model development in favor of a system where multiple vehicles share standardized architectures and common components. By establishing shared requirements for platforms and powertrains during early planning, Nissan aims to reduce component types by roughly 70% and shorten development cycles by 40%. The first models under this strategy are expected in fiscal year 2028.

Expanding on its long-term goals, the company also outlined the ‘Nissan Vision’ strategy through 2030. This roadmap focuses on four pillars: technological alliances, global product strategy, electrification, and the integration of artificial intelligence. A key component of this vision is the development of software, including the planned 2027 launch of ‘Nissan Copilot,’ an AI-based driver assistance and connectivity solution. Regarding the transition to electric vehicles, Nissan emphasized that the process should be orderly and respect consumer choice.
