In mid‑June 2026, Nissan unveiled a full model‑change of the Kicks compact SUV for Japan. The new second‑generation Kicks carries the third‑generation e‑POWER hybrid system and an optional e‑4ORCE electric‑four‑wheel‑drive unit. Production shifts from Thailand to Nissan’s Oppama plant, with a later move to Kyushu. By early August, cumulative reservations for the Kicks reached 11,388 units, having surpassed the 10,000‑unit milestone on July 27. Of these, 4,794 vehicles have already been delivered. Demand is heavily concentrated in premium trims, with the G and X+ grades accounting for 86% of bookings. On 14 July, Nissan launched the fourth‑generation Elgrand minivan, its first complete redesign in 16 years. The Elgrand features a redesigned exterior with ‘Kumiko’ patterns and an interior designed to resemble a private lounge, including ‘Zero Gravity Seats’. It utilizes a 1.5 L turbocharged e‑POWER system and includes e‑4ORCE technology across all models. Following its debut at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, the model entered the market in July 2026. As of mid‑September 2026, Elgrand sales in Japan have surpassed 9,000 units. By 11 October 2026, orders for the Elgrand surpassed 10,000 units, achieved approximately three months after its release. Demand remains heavily skewed toward premium specifications; the ‘G e-4ORCE’ grade accounts for more than half of total orders, and 90 percent of customers have opted for the ‘G’ grade or higher. Social media feedback has been largely positive, with users praising the ride quality, design, and the spaciousness of the rear seating. Additionally, SoftBank Hawks outfielder Yukio Shuto, an ambassador for the ‘Made in KYUSHU’ initiative, recently drew attention after sharing that he received a new Elgrand through the project. In late August, Uber Japan introduced the Elgrand to its Uber Premium service lineup through a partnership with Nissan, Hinomaru Limousine, and the IBI Group.
