As the situation progressed, regulatory focus expanded toward data privacy and the management of synthetic media. In Iowa, several counties began developing guidelines to protect sensitive data, noting that information entered into AI tools becomes part of a permanent knowledge base. Meanwhile, in Pennsylvania, the Allegheny County Council introduced legislation to regulate AI in political campaigns, requiring candidates to disclose the use of synthetic images, video, or audio to prevent voters from being misled by fabricated content.
