North Macedonia agricultural and industrial financial aid

Overview

The North Macedonian government and financial institutions have implemented various measures to support specific sectors of the economy. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy introduced ‘Measure 115’, providing up to 360,000 denars to women in agricultural households for equipment procurement and business services. This initiative includes increased social security, such as a 100,000 denars maternity allowance, and aims to integrate digital solutions and mechanization into farming.

Separately, a State Audit Office revision confirmed the distribution of 14.2 billion denars from a 250 million euro credit line managed through the Development Bank of North Macedonia. Covering the period from January 2025 to February 2026, the audit found that fund management complied with the established legal framework. Of the total funds, 6.29 billion denars were directed toward the manufacturing sector, followed by trade, transport, and construction. Other significant allocations included approximately 1.6 billion denars for the transition to renewable energy sources and 545 million denars for vehicle renewal.

In October 2026, the government adopted a budget proposal for 2027. Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska-Kocoska stated the budget aims to ensure stable public finances and gradual fiscal consolidation while fostering economic growth. Total revenues are projected at 395.4 billion denars, while expenditures are planned at 440.4 billion denars, resulting in a projected deficit of 45 billion denars, or 3.5 percent of the GDP. Key allocations include 123.8 billion denars for pensions and 220.8 billion denars for social transfers.
