North Macedonia disability benefit payment delays

Overview

The political party Levica has reported that self-employed persons with disabilities in North Macedonia have faced delays of approximately one year in receiving owed state funds. These funds are intended to reimburse pension and health insurance contributions through the Special Fund for Employment of Persons with Disabilities.

While the government allocated 300 million denars through a budget rebalance in July 2026 to address arrears from 2025, Levica claims that as of late August 2026, these payments had still not been distributed to beneficiaries.
