North Macedonia First Football League 2026-27 season ~~start~~ update

The 2026/27 season of North Macedonia’s First Football League opened in late July 2026 with a reduced lineup of ten clubs. The league format was altered to a ten-team, 36-round schedule, with each club playing five games per round. New entrant Shkëndija e Haračinës qualified for the top division for the first time. Early fixtures saw Tikveš establish dominance with a 5-1 victory over Arsimi and a 5-0 win against Bashkimi. By the third round, Tikveš held the league lead with a goal difference of 10-1, bolstered by recent squad additions Muhamed Elmas and Besar Gudzufi. In other opening matches, Struga secured a 3-0 victory over debutants Shkëndija Aračinovo, while Shkëndija emerged as a primary contender following a 4-1 victory against Bregalnica to move alone to the top of the table. In the fourth round, Tikveš faced FK Skopje in a match that required relocation. Because the pitch at the Avtokomanda stadium failed to meet league requirements, the fixture was moved to the ‘Petar Miloshevski’ training center within the Football Federation of Macedonia complex. Antonio Bozhinoski scored for Skopje in the 34th minute, but Tikveš secured a 1-1 draw in the 70th minute through a N'Fankli Sila penalty following a handball. Shkëndija has since maintained a perfect record, securing their fourth consecutive victory with a 2-1 win against Struga Trim Lum in the fourth round. The match, held at the Petar Miloshevski Stadium, involved two VAR reviews: one to disallow a second goal by Fahd Nzingue for offside, and another to award a late penalty, which Besart Ibraimi converted in the 86th minute. Shkëndija remains at the top of the league with 12 points. ~~Heading into~~ In the fifth round, league leaders Shkëndija ~~is scheduled to face~~ faced Sileks, who ~~currently sit~~ entered the match in third place with seven points.
