North Macedonia First Football League 2026-27 season start

Overview

The 2026/27 season of North Macedonia’s First Football League opened in late July 2026 with a reduced lineup of ten clubs. The league format was altered to a ten-team, 36-round schedule, with each club playing five games per round. New entrant Shkëndija e Haraçinës qualified for the top division for the first time.

Early fixtures saw Tikveš establish dominance with a 5-1 victory over Arsimi and a 5-0 win against Bashkimi. By the third round, Tikveš held the league lead with a goal difference of 10-1, bolstered by recent squad additions Muhamed Elmas and Besar Gudzufi. Tikveš was scheduled to host Shkëndija Aračinovo at the City Stadium in Kavadarci to attempt a third consecutive win.

In other opening matches, Struga secured a 3-0 victory over debutants Shkëndija Aračinovo. Veteran Marjan Radeski opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, followed by a second-half goal from Shabanis. Shkëndija midfielder Besir Demiri praised the club’s “quality preparations” and “significant reinforcements,” while Struga coach Bledi Shkembi highlighted the team’s aim to reach European competition and called the new format “suitable” for Macedonian football. Other early league activity included Sileks hosting Skopje, with Sileks entering as favorites after a draw against Shkëndija Aračinovo.

As the league progressed, Shkëndija emerged as a primary contender. Following a 4-1 victory against Bregalnica, the Tetovo-based club secured its third consecutive win, moving alone to the top of the league table with nine points. The match featured goals from Trumchi, Krasnici, Nzenge, and a penalty by Zejnullai.
