Nova Iguaçu is implementing various technological and social programs focused on public safety and community health. The city is finalizing an intelligent monitoring system that integrates 185 new cameras with 80 existing units, utilizing facial recognition, automatic license plate reading, and intelligent image analysis across strategic locations and municipal borders. This system is intended to support security forces and assist in locating missing persons or individuals wanted by the justice system. Simultaneously, the municipality is conducting health mobilization efforts. Through the ‘Pink October’ awareness movement and the Municipal Women’s Secretariat (SEMUNI), the city has provided specialized services in the Austin neighborhood, including vaccinations, rapid testing, dental care, and guidance on contraceptive methods to increase access to early diagnosis for breast and cervical cancer. Complementing these efforts, the city has conducted an annual animal rabies vaccination campaign across 46 service points. Additionally, the ‘Saneamento Salva’ project continues to train health professionals and daycare workers in the Km 32 area to promote sanitation, disease prevention, and proper waste management. Expanding on these health themes, the Municipal Secretariat of Animal Defense and Protection organized an ‘Outubro Rosa’ awareness meeting specifically for local animal protectors. This event included lectures on breast cancer prevention for women and the importance of spaying and neutering to reduce tumor risks in dogs and cats.
