Overview
The municipal government of Nuevo Laredo, under Mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal, is implementing various social housing programs to improve living conditions for vulnerable residents.
One initiative, the ‘Hogar Propio: Un patrimonio para tu familia’ program, has entered a new phase in the El Progreso neighborhood. This stage involves a 46.5 million peso investment to construct 62 new homes. Once all three stages of this project are finished, the sector will have 115 homes, with total investments for construction and urbanization exceeding 110 million pesos.
Additionally, the ‘Piso Firme 2026’ program is underway to replace dirt floors with solid flooring in existing homes. To date, more than 100 people have benefited from this initiative, which requires applicants to reside in homes with solid walls and provide specific documentation, including proof of legal property ownership.
