Recent incidents involving electrical workers have occurred across Cuba amidst a broader crisis in the national electrical system, marked by low generation capacity and fuel shortages. In Havana, a 32-year-old lineman from the Sancti Spíritus Electric Company, Edisvey Rolando Pérez Rodríguez, died from electrocution during maintenance work. The state-run Unión Eléctrica (UNE) labeled the event a “work accident.” An investigative commission was established to evaluate safety measures following the fatality. In eastern Cuba, the search operations have been launched to locate for Alexander Pantoja Bertot, an employee of the Santiago de Cuba Electric Company. Company, has concluded with the discovery of his body. Pantoja Bertot has had been missing since September 10 after being last seen inspecting a power line near the Gota Blanca reservoir.
