Following the Bradley Creek wildfire, the Okanagan Indian Band (OKIB) has entered a long-term recovery phase. While the BC Wildfire Service reported the blaze was held as of August 8, evacuation orders and alerts remained in place for certain areas to ensure safety while officials monitored hot spots and road conditions. To support those displaced by the Bradley Creek, Bald Range, and Quilpituk wildfires, a recovery event was organized in Kelowna. This event aimed efforts have included a donation centre at the Kelowna Events Centre. Organized community events aim to provide evacuees with donated essentials such as clothing, toiletries, and pet supplies, while offering access to caseworkers and community support. As recovery efforts continue, new support initiatives have emerged to address the Summerland wildfire. True North Recovery Consulting, founded by Lorna Dumaresq, is hosting free seminars in West Kelowna, Penticton, and Summerland to assist homeowners with the insurance and rebuilding process, specifically providing guidance on documentation and policy meanings. In Penticton, community support hubs, including the Penticton Comfort Centre and JCI Penticton’s relief tent, are beginning to wind down services as many Summerland residents are permitted to return home. However, some residents remain on evacuation alert following the Bald Range wildfire. On August 19, a separate wildfire incident was reported in the Chilliwack River Valley near Chilliwack Lake. Fire crews from the Chilliwack River Valley fire department and the BC Wildfire Service worked to suppress the flames, which were located approximately 5 km from the Riverside Campground. The fire was estimated to be 70 per cent contained within 40 minutes of crews arriving and was eventually listed as under control at 0.5 hectares.
