Olfen senior home knife attack

Overview

A 72-year-old resident of the St. Vitus-Stift senior home in Olfen, Germany, launched a knife attack in the facility’s cafeteria, resulting in the death of an 86-year-old woman and serious injuries to two other women, aged 81 and 83.

The suspect, a wheelchair user, was arrested and placed in custody. While initial reports suggested he may have felt bullied by fellow residents, official motives have not been confirmed. Subsequent updates indicate that the two injured women are no longer in life-threatening danger following surgeries.

The suspect faces charges of manslaughter and attempted manslaughter. Medical assessments have indicated that he does not suffer from dementia, and he is being held in a judicial hospital due to pre-existing medical conditions.
