Overview

The Ontario government launched ‘Operation Deterrence’, a public safety strategy involving a $32.5 million investment to enhance border security and combat the smuggling of drugs, illegal firearms, and other contraband. These operations targeted two independent criminal networks in the Brantford, London, and Oneida Nation of the Thames areas. The investigations resulted in charges against seven individuals and the seizure of approximately $913,000 worth of drugs—including 6.5 kg of suspected fentanyl—alongside firearms, ammunition, and stolen property.
