Opel announced that its fully electric Corsa GSE hot‑hatch will debut at the Paris Motor Show in October and enter European dealerships later in the year. The model, tracing its lineage back to the 1988 Corsa GSi, is rated at 207 kW (281 hp) with 345 Nm of torque and can accelerate from 0‑100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, making it the most powerful Corsa to date while delivering zero‑CO₂ emissions. Production will shift to Opel’s Spanish plant after the German facility closes, and pricing is expected around 5.8‑6.0 million Hungarian forints, positioning the car against rivals such as the Volkswagen Polo and Dacia Sandero in Germany and Britain. On 26 July 2026, Opel publicly unveiled the Corsa GSE at Portugal’s Caramulo Motorfestival (4‑6 September) before a second showcase at the Paris Motor Show in October. The launch highlighted a ~~Torsin~~ Torsen multi‑disc locking differential, lowered chassis, upgraded suspension, four‑piston front brakes and bespoke 18‑inch alloy wheels. A new "Yes, of Corsa" campaign, featuring a roller‑coaster‑style test track and the slogan "The Opel Corsa – Made for Fun!", was rolled out. Opel confirmed plans to bring the vehicle to market before year‑end, though battery capacity, charging power and final pricing remain undisclosed. The Corsa GSE was first presented in May 2026 and will make its inaugural public appearance in Poland at Energylandia amusement park from 1‑14 August 2026, in a dedicated “Corsa Made for Fun” zone. The 54 kWh gross (51 kWh usable) battery powers the car, which includes a V2L charger, sport‑tuned suspension, Torsen limited‑slip differential, four‑piston Alcon brakes, 18‑inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres, and interior sport seats with Alcantara upholstery, yellow safety belts and aluminium pedals. Opel has not announced test‑drive opportunities, as the model awaits final homologation.
