Opera browser VPN automatic activation rollout
Overview
Opera has introduced a new feature for its desktop browser VPN that automatically activates when a user connects to an unsecured or public Wi-Fi network. The rollout has begun for users in the United States and France.
The service is free, requires no account, and follows a no-logs policy that has been independently verified by Deloitte and complies with GDPR. Arjan van Leeuwen, head of engineering for Opera One, stated that “online privacy should be a natural occurrence rather than a task that must be remembered every time a user connects to a public network.” A broader global release is planned for the future.
