Tokyo-based studio Shapefarm has released Orbitals, a cooperative adventure game exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2. Published by Kepler Interactive, the title officially launched on September 3, 2026.

To achieve a visual style inspired by 1980s and 1990s Japanese anime, Shapeform collaborated with Studio Massket to utilize hand-drawn cinematics, traditional animation rhythms, and a focus on character acting and facial expressions. The project involves Creative Director Marcos Ramos, Game Director Jakob Lundgren, and animator Hidetoshi Yoshida. Built using Unreal Engine 5, the game features a digital soundtrack with songs by Japanese singer-songwriter Maya Ayukawa.

Designed strictly for two-player cooperation, players control characters Maki and Omura as they navigate space environments using tools like a scrap hook and beam cannon to save a collapsing space station. The game supports local split-screen, ‘osuso-wake’ communication, and a Global Friend Pass for connecting different consoles. To mark the release, a pop-up event in collaboration with the Nintendo Switch specialty store Assemble is scheduled in Hong Kong from September 3 to October 7.
