The Orquestra Filarmônica de Goiás held several musical events in Goiânia during the summer of 2026. In August, the orchestra hosted a concert featuring Polish conductor Paweł Przytocki. This event served as the conclusion to a conducting study cycle that included practical activities and repertoire designed to test the skills of music students. Przytocki, a professor at the Academy of Music in Kraków, led nine selected students in practical activities, with 17 additional students participating as listeners. The repertoire included Józef Elsner’s overture. Later in August, the orchestra performed a free concert at the Teatro Municipal in Anápolis as part of the “Quarta Cultural” and “Turnê Estadual” programs. Conducted by maestro Neil Thomson, the performance featured works by George Enescu and Robert ~~Schumann, specifically Enescu’s “Deceto para Sopros, Op. 14” and Schumann’s “Sinfonia nº 2, Op. 61”.~~ Schumann. The event, which aimed to increase public access to classical music, was accompanied by a cultural ~~fair featuring gastronomy~~ fair. Also in August, the Goiânia Symphony Orchestra scheduled a “Cinema in Concert” performance at Teatro Goiânia for August 26. Conducted by Eliseu Ferreira, the program features film soundtracks by composers such as Hans Zimmer, Richard Strauss, and ~~artisanal products.~~ Miklós Rózsa, including music from “Jurassic Park,” “Gladiator,” and “The Lion King.” Admission requires a donation of 1 kg of non-perishable food for social programs managed by the Goiânia City Hall.
