Osogovo Sports Complex renovation and reopening
Overview
The Osogovo Sports Complex in Kyustendil has officially reopened following a multi-stage modernization project. The upgrades included the installation of a new eight-lane athletics track, professional-standard lighting, a new pitch grass cover, new seating, and a perimeter fence.
The project was supported by significant funding, including 750,000 euros from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and approximately 2.7 million euros for lighting, the track, and auxiliary fields. A third stage of the project, valued at 1.5 million euros, is planned for the future.
The reopening ceremony featured various state and local officials, including Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Maria Tsvetkova and Bulgarian Olympic Committee President Vesela Lecheva, alongside sporting figures such as Krasimir Balakov and Jordan Jovchev. Kyustendil Mayor Ognyan Atanasov stated the objective is to restore the facility as a training base for national and international teams.
