Pacific Digital Assets Forum launch

Overview

Nauru’s Office of the Trade Commissioner to the United Arab Emirates inaugurated the Pacific Digital Assets Forum (PDAF) in late July 2026. The independent platform, chaired by Trade Commissioner Dad van Yousuf, is intended to promote research, education, policy dialogue and international cooperation on digital assets and finance across Pacific island jurisdictions.

PDAF will issue an annual Pacific Digital Assets Report starting in the fourth quarter of 2027, which will include a Pacific Digital Assets Regulatory Index that assesses and compares regulatory progress among Pacific jurisdictions. A rotating Pacific Digital Assets Conference is also planned for late 2027 to bring together government officials, regulators, academics and industry participants. The forum operates separately from government policy and has no regulatory authority, emphasizing that effective regulation supports, rather than hinders, innovation.

The initiative follows Nauru’s 2023 legislation creating the Command Ridge Virtual Asset Authority, reflecting the country’s ambition to become a leading digital economy in the Pacific region.
