Pakistan wins ODI tri-series title

Overview

Pakistan secured the ODI tri-series trophy after a three-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the final at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Chasing a target of 326, Pakistan reached 331 for seven in 48.3 overs, completing the chase with nine balls to spare. This performance marks one of the highest successful run chases in ODI final history.

Fakhar Zaman led the recovery with 127 runs off 99 balls, ending a three-year century drought and equaling Saeed Anwar’s record for two centuries in ODI finals. Zaman also became the 16th Pakistani batter to surpass 4,000 ODI runs. He shared a 149-run partnership for the third wicket with Saad Baig, who contributed 74 runs. The chase was further supported by Arafat Minhas, who scored 61 off 31 balls, and Hasan Nawaz, who remained unbeaten on 37 to steady the closing stages. Early wickets in the innings included a duck for Babar Azam.

Earlier, Sri Lanka posted 325 for eight in their 50 overs. Kamindu Mendis scored 131 runs in his maiden ODI century, supported by Pavan Rathnayake’s 77. For Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, and Salman Ali Agha each claimed two wickets. The match was impacted by significant dew on the outfield during the second innings.
