The commission sought input from developers, investors, and consumers to address practices that could lead to “serious financial consequences for consumers.”
Following these developments, the regulator launched a specific inquiry into housing schemes for allegedly using misleading advertisements regarding their locations. The probe focuses on claims that developments, such as the M/s. Eighteen Housing Project, marketed themselves as being in Islamabad despite being located outside the city’s official administrative boundaries. The CCP is reviewing whether these campaigns violate the Competition Act, which allows for fines of up to Rs75 million or 10 percent of an undertaking’s annual turnover.
